A Divine Calling: Trusting God’s Guidance to Unveil Your Destiny

Amid the whirlwind of life’s responsibilities and the allure of social media fame, discovering one’s purpose can be like searching for the needle in a haystack of distractions. Furthermore, this is especially true for Christian women aiming to walk in alignment with their Divine calling. In this devotion, we’ll give you a starting point for searching out your purpose by recognizing your passions, unique gifts, and abilities. Additionally, this post inspires your spiritual growth and understanding that God’s calling is the only vision you should have for your life.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

—Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV

Our Limited Vision

As women of faith, our path to discovering our true purpose is deeply rooted in our spiritual relationship with a supernatural God. When we lean into this relationship, we recognize the limitations of our natural vision. Consequently, we begin to perceive our divine calling beyond our human understanding. It’s a common challenge, though. Many Christian women approach this spiritual journey with a worldly mindset. Therefore, they struggle to see beyond the carnal to where God gently guides them, as reflected in 1 Corinthians 2:14.

The world can also be a snare. Seductively urging us to rely on our own strength and follow the whims of our hearts. Yet, as scripture in Jeremiah 17:9 warns us, the heart can lead us astray with its deceptions. In contrast, grounding ourselves in the Lord offers us a sanctuary of peace and assurance. This is especially true in moments of doubt or fear for the future. There’s a beautiful promise held in Jeremiah 17:6-8 and reiterated in Proverbs 3:5-6. When we earnestly submit our path to the Lord, He embraces our trust and illuminates our paths. Ultimately guiding us toward a future carved with divine intention.

You Are Equipped

God has lovingly bestowed distinct gifts, talents, and passions upon us, as captured in Romans 12:6-8. These aren’t random; they are divine seeds planted within us, perfectly aligned with His magnificent plan for our lives. They equip us to serve one another, embodying good stewardship as encouraged in 1 Peter 4:10.

Yet, it’s a profound realization that many Christian women overlook the beauty and power of their unique abilities. Furthermore, they do not fully recognize them as precious gifts from the Holy Spirit, designed to guide them toward their divine purpose. The same God who has meticulously prepared good works for us to step into (Ephesians 2:10) is also the faithful provider who equips us with everything we need to bring those works to fruition.

For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.

—Psalm 139:13-14 (NKJV)

A Biblical Example

Your passions are far from coincidental. They are divinely aligned with the very essence of who you are meant to be. The causes that stir your heart, the injustices that summon your courage, and the sorrows that touch your soul reflect God’s unique design for you. Consider how Moses, moved by the injustice upon his people, felt a profound compassion for them (Exodus 2:11). That was no accident. His empathy was a divine spark, igniting a passion that led him to liberate his people from bondage.

This same Moses, endowed with the gift of prophecy, was chosen to convey God’s laws to the Israelites. Thus, Moses was a mediator between God and those who feared His presence (Deuteronomy 18:16-17). His earlier life as a shepherd in Midian wasn’t mere circumstance either. The preparation shaped him into the leader who would guide Israel through the wilderness (Exodus 3:1).

The narrative of Moses is a testament to God’s promise to fulfill His purpose in us (Philippians 1:6). It depicts the assurance that we are wonderfully made, known intimately by God, even before our birth (Psalm 139:13-14). Through Moses’ story, we see the beauty of how our passions, shaped by godly intent, lead us toward our divine calling.

Search Out Your Divine Calling

Our Creator has always had a sacred manner of hiding truths. Truths that He reserves only for those hearts open and ready to receive the deeper mysteries of His kingdom. Throughout the scriptures, we see evidence of His divine discretion. Jesus Himself chose to speak in parables, a gentle invitation for those truly listening to lean in closer (Matthew 13:9-11). It’s not that our God in Heaven hides wisdom to keep it from us. On the contrary, He conceals it for us—awaiting the moment we are prepared to unfold the layers of His divine plan.

We are given this example in Genesis 18:17-21. When the Lord fully disclosed His plan to Abraham in accordance with His purpose. It becomes an act of faith, a supernatural endeavor, to unearth the divine secrets God has placed along our path (Proverbs 25:2).
